Saanand Verma is grinning from ear to ear. And why not? The man has signed up for the prestigious Sacred Games 2, where he will play an antagonist
The popular actor Saanand Verma who rose to fame with his
character Anokhe Lal Saxena has signed up for an important role in Sacred Games
2. Verma's hilarious dialogues and comic situations in &TV’s sitcom,Bhabiji
Ghar Par Hain have made him a household name but he will now have to burn some
midnight oil to get into the dark genre of the popular web show.
SpotboyE.com has it that Verma will play a negative
character in Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap’s joint venture for
Netflix- the first one did really well. It is believed that he might start
shooting for the same, end of this month.

Talking with great pride about acquiring this new role
and his love for acting, Verma says, “I consider myself to be a pure actor, and
have always had a strong determination to succeed in my craft. It’s this
determination and passion for acting that inspires me to keep experimenting
with different characters and varied genres. I can never be happy by just
staying put to one character or one particular genre. I will be portraying a
comedy character and a negative role at the same time. I believe holding one’s
talent to just television or films restricts an actor in many ways. So after
Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, Sacred Games is truly one such project where the sky is
the limit. Anurag Kashyap is one of my dream directors to work with and I have
always been fascinated by the genre of his films. Working with him on such a
massively popular project is nothing short of an honour to me and I thank my
stars in abundance for this. I also dream to work one day in a Steven
Spiellberg or James Cameron film and hope to make this a reality at some point
in my life.”

Revealing a bit about his character and on working with
his role model Nawazudin Siddiqui, Verma says, “My character’s name is
Purshottam, an Indian origin foreign based businessman who might seem innocent
and good natured to the world, but actually has a grey shade and deals in
illegal trade. It’s vastly different from what I do in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain or
from my last film. While I have a few scenes with Saif Ali Khan, I share major
screen space with Nawazuddin. My struggle and life story is very similar to
that of Nawazuddin and somewhere I believe we have both faced the same hurdles
in life. However, just like him I used my slow growth to learn all that I can,
and it’s quite a thrilling opportunity to work and spend time with him.”
